Monster Island, the Asylum’s 2019 mockbuster, came out around the same date as Godzilla King of the Monsters. The film is about a mysterious island in which a monstrous creature lives. The island itself serves as metaphor for the monstrous creature.


Asylum, (posted) a low-budget movie, focuses on a very small number of people and has its A-listers gathered in one place so they can shoot all the sequences at lunch. Nonetheless, let us not forget that this is a kaiju film, and that, well... is sort of how they go, so maybe The Asylum won't do such an awful job with it?
